Our Mum has got her hat on – Hip, hip, hip, hip, hooray!
Our Mum has got her hat on so we’ll get our walk today.
Yesterday she sat all day looking so very pale –
she didn’t eat at all so we missed our treats as well!
She’d been out in the morning, could not have gone that far,
but she was gone for ages and didn’t take the car!
She came back looking seedy and she could hardly talk.
She put on her pyjamas but we’d not had our walk!
They say that it’s a dog’s life – we’re not so sure that’s true
Our life depends on what Mum does if it’s with us too!
She goes out nearly every day and doesn’t take us too.
She thinks she can placate us by giving us a chew!
We wonder where she goes each day driving in the car,
but when she leaves home on foot we guess she can’t go far.
She said she would miss the bus, whatever that might be.
She left home in a rush and did not take Jez or me!
We like it best when she comes home often with a treat –
If she’s been out to lunch the smell beats her down the street!
She comes home with shopping bags and we’ll sit very good –
Some things are “Not for dogs” but we hope she’s bought our food!
But now she’s got her hat on – Hip, hip, hip, hip, hooray!
Our Mum has got her hat on so we’ll get our walk today!
Written the day after I had a tooth out and was told not to take exercise that day. Their excitement when I walked into the kitchen the next day with my hat on, prompted me to pen this little ditty. With apologies to the composers of “Me and my Girl”
