Duncan and Dulcie Dunnock are a good pair
they’ve bred here for years in our bush over there.
They fly round and round our garden all day long
feeding their chicks who are making quite a song.
They feed on the ground scrabbling amongst the shrubs,
I suppose that they’re looking for juicy grubs.
They balance on the feeders now and again,
shower in the bushes when we’ve had some rain.
Their nest is in the clematis overhead,
their kids make a racket when we’re still in bed.
But they grow up soon and then they fly the nest,
leaving Mum and Dad ‘cos they like it here best.
