Shattered Dreams

When we got together we were so great,
we’d shape our ideas and work until late.
We would build our dream castles in the sky.
We were just invincible, you and I.

What a team we were then, right from the start
when we met each other, you stole my heart.
I welcomed you soon to live in my home,
I never thought that you would need to roam.

But it’s true you can’t cage a butterfly,
and very soon I caught you telling a lie.
Our dreams are now shattered into small bits
and you’ve got me at the end of my wits.

Give me back my heart, you have done me wrong,
I’ve found out you were cheating all along.
It’s all over now, take back your ring!
Such a shame – we could have been anything.
