ODE TO MY PEN
O pen, my dear, dear pen,
you’ve helped me write
when I’ve tossed and turned
in the middle of the night.
O pen, my poor, poor pen,
you lie there again
all alone and abandoned
now that my laptop is opened.

BREAKFAST TIME
All
alert,
ears pricked up,
eyes shining bright
tongue lolling, panting,
tail sweeping the floor.
She’s starting to dribble
as she thinks of her kibble,
her eyes fixed on the cupboard door,
s i t t i n g w a i t i n g, a n t i c i p a t i n g…

PIGEON PANIC
My patio doors
are covered in stickers
to stop birds crashing into them.
Yesterday one door was open wide
and a pesky wood pigeon flew inside.
What followed was mayhem.
My pup wet her knickers
all over my floors.

WINE
the bottle’s open
it would be a dreadful shame
not to finish it
POSTMAN’S KNOCK
Rap-a-tap-tap.
Who is there?
Open the door
but just beware.
Tick-tock, tick-tock.
It’s getting late.
He’s on his way
so unlock the gate.
Boom-boom, boom-boom.
My heart’s beating fast.
I think that I am
falling in love at last.
